Harbour City Singers

The Harbour City Singers started in 2006 as a group of 12 Probus club members who sang after the club’s monthly meetings at the Yacht Club.  In 2007 the group moved to the Bowen Park Recreation Centre which offered it as a city-sponsored group activity. Over the years it has developed as a non-auditioned choir of 70 plus singers.

Under the direction of its founding director, Lionel Tanod, the choir enjoys singing a wide-ranging repertoire of traditional folk songs, light classics, jazz standards and contemporary Canadian compositions, accompanied and a cappella.

The choir presents two annual concerts in the fall and spring at the Bowen Park Recreation Centre’s auditorium. It also participates in Nanaimo Sings! and other community music events in the city. Participants in the choir have to be registered members of the Bowen Park Recreation Centre.

Rehearsals are on Wednesday afternoon, 2- 4 pm at the Rotary Field House.
