The year was 2009. Velvet track suits and low rise jeans were all the rage. The number one album was “Fearless”, by that one hit wonder, Taylor Swift. And, in Nanaimo, BC, Canada, 6 women with a love of singing came together to form Panache! 

There have been several changes in the Panache! lineup over the years, with original members Nancy Robinson and Jane Aspen still making music with us! Stephanie Purtle and Elizabeth Herman joined in 2017, and our newest members, Andrea L’Heureux Maki and Judy Schickerowsky started with us in 2023.

Over the past 15 years Panache has performed at venues ranging from living rooms to the Port Theatre, in towns such as Nanaimo, Comox and all the way to Gabriola Island. It’s been said that no genre is safe from us, with classic pop tunes, Motown, and folk music being among our favorites! After a brief hiatus during the Pandemic, our newest iteration of 6 singers is delighted to be back singing and performing together (although the jury is still out on the dancing).
